With a Checkup at Lake Forest Family Dentistry
At Lake Forest Family Dentistry, patient comfort is our number one concern. Dr. Dennis Horanic strives for pain-free dentistry, and he is able to ease even the most anxious patient with state-of-the-art technology that ensures total relaxation during treatment.
For example, hate the sound of the drill? Put on a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. Can’t keep your mind calm? Play a game on an iPad or watch TV for distraction. Hate the smell of a dentist’s office? Horanic uses a special scenting system to help you forget where you are when you are in the chair.
In addition to comfort, Horanic believes in developing a strong partnership with each of his patients by educating them about the importance of taking care of their teeth and working closely to obtain optimal dental health.
“A lot of doctors and dentists don’t sit down and tell their patients the most important thing, which is not necessarily how to fix the problem, but rather why you got the problem and how to keep it from coming back,” Horanic explains. Horanic believes that it is important for a dentist to teach patients how to take better care of themselves.
Good dental health is vital to overall good health. Horanic says there are significant correlations between decay-causing bacteria and infections of the heart valves, as well as correlations between gum disease and Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, heart attack, stroke, diabetes and stillbirths. Gum disease and decay can increase the amount of bacteria in the bloodstream which puts you at increased risk for serious medical issues like these.
Healthy teeth and gums not only keep you feeling good, but looking good too. A beautiful smile builds confidence. Horanic loves being able to make a difference in someone’s life, like helping a child who is ashamed of her teeth by turning them into something of which she can be most proud.
“There are few things out there where you can take what somebody may deem his worst feature, and turn it into his best feature,” he says.
Lake Forest Family Dentistry offers all of the usual services, plus some you may not have heard of, including Ikon, a treatment that can help eliminate white spots left on teeth after braces, as well as a laser gum lift for those who would like to improve a “gummy” smile. " Horanic and his staff are excited to announce that in 2014 they will be moving into a brand new building, which will feature one of the most up-to-date practices in the country for cutting-edge dental technology.
Horanic is a lifelong resident of Central Florida. He graduated from the University of Central Florida and the College of Dentistry at the University of Florida. He has been in practice since 1993.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Central District Association, Greater Orlando Dental Society and the Study Club of Mid Florida.
